The University Interscholastic League’s volleyball regular season is down to its final weeks, with district championships and playoff berths still on the line. Here is how the San Antonio-area postseason landscape is shaping up:

District 27-6A
Who is in:
New Braunfels Canyon (10-2 in district play), Pieper (10-2), Clemens (10-2), Steele (9-3)

The breakdown: With two matches left, New Braunfels Canyon, Pieper and Clemens are in a three-way tie for first place, and Steele is only a game back. Tuesday’s matches will help settle things as New Braunfels Canyon hosts Steele, and Clemens is at home vs. Pieper.

District 28-6A
Who is in:
Brandeis (10-2), Reagan (10-2), Clark (9-3)

On the verge: Churchill (7-5), Johnson (6-6)

The breakdown: Brandeis and Reagan appear headed for a share of the league crown if everything holds to form. Clark, which has secured a postseason berth for the 42nd straight season, could move into a tie for first with a win vs. Brandeis on Tuesday and a Reagan loss. Churchill and Johnson will square off on Tuesday in a crucial contest that likely will decide the final playoff berth. Churchill, in its first season under Coach Julianne Ehrlich, is one game ahead of Johnson and, with a win, can lock up its first playoff berth since reaching the third round in 2019. Johnson could move into a tie for the last spot by beating Churchill on Tuesday and would hold the tiebreaker.

District 29-6A
Who is in:
Harlan (14-0), Brennan (13-1)

On the verge: O’Connor (9-5), Warren (9-5), Sotomayor (9-6)

The breakdown: Harlan and Brennan will face off on Friday for the league title. Harlan won in five sets in the teams’ first meeting on Sept. 22. The biggest question remaining is who will earn the final two playoff berths. O’Connor and Warren are tied for third, and Sotomayor is a half-game back. O’Connor and Sotomayor play each other in the district finale on Friday. O’Connor captured the first meeting in four sets on Sept. 22.

District 30-6A
Who is in:
Laredo Alexander (12-0), Laredo United (11-1)

Still alive: Laredo United South (6-6), Southwest (5-7), Laredo LBJ (4-8), Del Rio (4-8), Southwest Legacy (4-8)

The breakdown: Alexander and United have garnered playoff berths and will meet on Saturday for the league title. United South only needs a win to land a postseason spot, while the race for the final bid will be decided from amongst a four-team logjam that includes Southwest, Laredo LBJ, Del Rio and Southwest Legacy.

District 25-5A
Who is in:
Smithson Valley (12-0), New Braunfels (10-2), MacArthur (9-4), Seguin (8-4)

The breakdown: Smithson Valley has locked up at least a share of the district title and needs only a win to claim an outright crown. New Braunfels, MacArthur and Seguin are also playoff-bound.

District 26-5A
Who is in:
Boerne (9-1), Boerne Champion (9-1), Alamo Heights (9-2)

On the verge: McCollum (4-6)

Still alive: Harlandale (2-8)

The breakdown: Boerne and Boerne Champion square off on Tuesday for the district lead and the inside track to the league crown. Boerne won the earlier meeting in four sets on Sept. 25. Alamo Heights is in the playoffs and can still earn at least a share of the league crown. McCollum needs a win or a loss by Harlandale to secure the final postseason bid. Harlandale needs to win its final two matches and hope McCollum drops its last two contests, including Friday’s encounter between the Harlandale ISD schools, to force a fourth-place tiebreaker.

District 27-5A
Who is in:
Highlands (15-0), Lanier (11-3), Burbank (11-3)

On the verge: Fox Tech (8-6)

Still alive: YWLA (7-7), Edison (6-8)

The breakdown: Highlands has locked up the district championship, and Lanier and Burbank have secured playoff berths. Fox Tech needs a win or a loss by YWLA to cement a playoff spot for only the fourth time in the past 40 years. YWLA can force a tiebreaker with wins in its final two district matches and a loss by Fox Tech. Those teams split their district series. Edison is mathematically alive for a playoff spot, but needs some things to fall in its favor.

District 28-5A
Who is in:
Medina Valley (8-0)

On the verge: Laredo Nixon (5-3), Southside (4-4), Laredo Cigarroa (4-4)

Still alive: Laredo Martin (3-5)

The breakdown: Medina Valley winning the district title is the only certainty. Laredo Nixon is playoff-bound with a win. Southside, Laredo Cigarroa and Laredo Martin are in a likely race for the final two spots. Tuesday’s matches will go a long way in settling the scenario.

District 27-4A
Who is in:
Wimberley (7-1), Kerrville Tivy (6-2), Davenport (6-2), Canyon Lake (4-4)

The breakdown: One of the state’s most rugged Class 4A leagues has lived up to the billing. Wimberley plays at Davenport on Tuesday in a contest with district-championship implications. Wimberley can lock up the district title with a win, while a triumph by Davenport can potentially leave those two teams and Kerrville Tivy in a three-way tie for first. A regional finalist a year ago, Canyon Lake has secured the final playoff spot.

District 28-4A
Who is in:
Pleasanton (9-1), Somerset (8-2), Uvalde (8-2), Medina Valley Creek View (6-5)

The breakdown: The four playoff teams have been determined. The only thing unsettled is who will be the district champion. Pleasanton has the inside track, but Somerset and Uvalde are on its heels and are only one game back. Coach Catherine Cortez, who previously had a successful stint at Southwest, has guided Creek View to the playoffs in its first season.

District 29-4A
Who is in:
Floresville (7-1), La Vernia (6-2), Navarro (5-3), Cuero (4-4)

The breakdown: Floresville can nail down at least a share of the league crown with one more win and could land an outright title with a win and a loss by La Vernia. Navarro, La Vernia and Cuero are also headed to the postseason and are playing for seeding.

District 25-3A
Who is in:
Ingram (7-0), Blanco (4-2), Comfort (4-3), Florence (1-5)

The breakdown: Ingram has secured a second straight league title. Blanco, Comfort and Florence have nabbed the other three postseason berths.

District 26-3A
Who is in:
Goliad (8-0), Stockdale (7-1)

Still alive: Yoakum (4-4), Karnes City (3-5), Nixon-Smiley (2-6)

The breakdown: Goliad, the defending Class 3A Division I state champion and 2024 state finalist, has clinched no worse than a share of the district title. Despite losing 6-foot-1 outside hitter LeAnn Wise, one of the area’s most prolific attackers who graduated early to attend Texas (beach volleyball), Stockdale, the 3A Division II state winner in 2024 and a state semifinalist a year ago, is bound for the playoffs. Stockdale plays at Goliad on Tuesday for the district crown. Karnes City, Yoakum and Nixon-Smiley are in the mix for the final two playoff berths.

District 27-3A
Who is in:
Poth (8-0), Jourdanton (5-3), Marion (4-4), Randolph (4-4)

The breakdown: Poth has locked up its first district title since 2023 and is bound for the playoffs for the 42nd consecutive season. Jourdanton, Marion and Randolph claimed the other three postseason bids.

District 28-3A
Who is in:
Devine (8-2), Carrizo Springs (8-2), Lytle (8-3)

Still alive: Hondo (5-5), Crystal City (5-5)

The breakdown: Devine and Carrizo Springs are tied for first place, and Lytle is a half-game back. All three have secured playoff berths. Hondo and Crystal City will battle for the league’s final postseason spot.
