The high school volleyball regular season is down to the final game day. District championships, playoff berths and seedings (Division I or Division II) are still up for grabs for the postseason, which starts Oct. 30 and continues until Nov. 20-22 with the UIL state finals at the Culwell Center in Garland.
Here’s how the San Antonio-area landscape is shaping up:
District 27-6A

On the cusp: Johnson (7-6), Churchill (6-7)
The rundown: Clark, Reagan and Brandeis each locked up a playoff spot. Reagan can win the league title outright with a win Friday vs. Brandeis, while Clark could move into a tie for first place with a win and a Reagan loss. Johnson has the inside track to the final berth. Churchill is one game back and can pull even and force a tiebreaker with a win vs. LEE and a loss by Johnson vs. Clark.

The rundown: Either O’Connor or Harlan will capture the league crown, outright or shared, while Brennan has already notched the third playoff berth. Sotomayor is poised to clinch the final postseason bid with a win or a loss by Stevens on Friday. If Sotomayor falls in its district finale and Stevens wins, the two teams will tie for fourth, and a tiebreaker would determine who advances.

The rundown: New Braunfels Canyon is the district winner. Steele is second, Buda Johnson is third, and Clemens outlasted East Central in five sets to nab the final postseason slot.
