The high school volleyball regular season concludes on Tuesday and district championships and playoff berths and seeding are still on the line in numerous districts.
Here’s a breakdown of the area’s postseason scenarios (with district record in parenthesis:
District 27-6A
Who’s in: New Braunfels (8-1), Steele (7-2), San Marcos (5-4), Clemens (5-4)
The skinny: New Braunfels has secured no worse than a tie for the district title and the No. 1 seed. Steele is second and San Marcos and Clemens have locked up the final two postseason spots, with seeding only left to be determined.
District 28-6A
Who’s in: Clark (16-0), Reagan (13-2), Brandeis (12-3)
On the cusp: Madison (8-7), Johnson (7-8)
The skinny: Clark nabbed an undefeated league crown. Reagan is second and Brandeis is third, but Brandeis can move into a second-place tie when the teams face off in their district finale on Tuesday. Madison can lock up the final playoff bid with a win vs. Johnson on Tuesday, but Johnson can move into a tie for the spot with a victory and would own the head-to-head tiebreaker.
District 29-6A
Who’s in: O’Connor (15-0), Harlan (12-3), Warren (11-4)
On the cusp: Brennan (8-7), Stevens (8-8)
The skinny: O’Connor is the league champion, Harlan is second and Warren is third. Brennan can clinch the final spot with a win Tuesday vs. Jay. Stevens needs a Brennan loss to move into a tie for fourth place and force a tiebreaker.
District 26-5A
Who’s in: New Braunfels Canyon (11-1), Smithson Valley (11-1), Kerrville Tivy (8-5), Boerne Champion (8-5)
The skinny: New Braunfels Canyon and Smithson Valley are tied for first place and look poised to share the district title, barring an upset by either on Tuesday. Boerne Champion and Kerrville Tivy have secured the other two spots and square off on Tuesday for seeding.
District 27-5A
Who’s in: Alamo Heights (15-0), MacArthur (13-2), Highlands (12-3), Burbank (9-6)
The skinny: Alamo Heights is the district winner. MacArthur can notched second place by defeating Highlands on Tuesday, while Highlands can moved into a tie for second place and force a tiebreaker with a win when the squads meet on Tuesday. Burbank is the fourth-place team.
District 28-6A
Who’s in: Harlandale (13-0), Southwest (10-3), Medina Valley (10-3), South San (7-6)
The skinny: Harlandale can earn an undefeated league title with a win vs. rival McCollum on Tuesday. Southwest and Medina Valley are tied for second and would share the spot if both win on Tuesday, forcing a tiebreaker to determine playoff seeding. South San has secured fourth place.
District 27-4A
Who’s in: Davenport (11-0), Wimberley (7-4), Fredericksburg (7-4), Navarro (7-5)
The skinny: Davenport is the league champion. Wimberley and Fredericksburg are tied for second and Wimberley would lock up the No. 2 seed if the teams finished tie because of head-to-head tiebreaker. Navarro is fourth and could move up if Wimberley or Fredericksburg falters.
District 28-4A
Who’s in: La Vernia (11-0), Cuero (9-2), San Antonio YWLA (8-3), Gonzales (5-7)
On the cusp: Fox Tech (4-7)
The skinny: La Vernia is the district champion, Cuero is second and YWLA is third. YWLA could move up to second and force a tiebreaker with a win and a loss by Cuero on Tuesday. Gonzales is fourth but Fox Tech can move into a tie with a win Tuesday vs. Kennedy and force a tiebreaker for the final playoff bid.
District 29-4A
Who’s in: Pleasanton (11-0), Floresville (9-2), Devine (8-3), Carrizo Springs (5-6)
The skinny: Pleasanton has sewn up the district title. Floresville is second and Devine is third and the two face off on Tuesday. Devine has a chance to move into a second-place tie and force a tiebreaker to determine seeding. Carrizo Springs is fourth.
District 5-3A
Who’s in: Blanco (8-1), Ingram (7-2), Comfort (7-2), Llano (4-5)
The skinny: Blanco has secured no worse than a share of the district crown and can win it outright with a win Tuesday vs. Comfort. Ingram and Comfort are tied for second and both still could finish in a tie for first with wins. Llano is fourth.
District 26-3A
Who’s in: Randolph (11-0), Marion (9-2)
On the cusp: Nixon-Smiley (6-5), Great Hearts Northern Oaks (6-5), Cole (5-6)
The skinny: Randolph has clinched the district title and Marion is second. Nixon-Smiley and Great Hearts Northern Oaks are tied for third and can lock up playoff berths with either a win or a loss by Cole, which needs a win and a loss by Nixon-Smiley to force a tiebreaker.
District 27-3A
Who’s in: Poth (7-0), Jourdanton (5-2), Poteet (4-3)
On the cusp: Karnes City (1-6), West Campus (1-6)
The skinny: Poth is the district winner, Jourdanton is second and Poteet is third. Karnes City and West Campus are tied for the final spot and likely will need a tiebreaker to determine the final playoff berth.
District 28-3A:
Who’s in: Hondo (8-1), Crystal City (6-3), Lytle (5-4), Cotulla (4-5)
The skinny: Hondo claimed the district crown. Crystal City is second, Lytle is third and Cotulla is fourth.
District 29-2A:
Who’s in: Johnson City (7-0), Stockdale (4-3), Falls City (4-3), Stacey (2-6)
The skinny: Johnson City earned the district’s top spot. Stockdale and Falls City are tied for second and the Tuesday’s results will go a long way in deciding seeding. Stacey is the fourth-place team.
