The UIL soccer regular season is down to its final week. District championships, playoff berths and playoff seeding have been determined in some districts but are still undecided in others.
Here’s how the San Antonio-area playoff picture shakes out:
Boys
District 27-6A
Who’s in: Reagan (9-2-3, 30 points), Johnson (9-3-2, 29), Brandeis (9-4-1, 28), Madison (8-5-1, 25)
Overview: Reagan rallied in the second half to edge Brandeis 2-1 and notch its first league title since 2022 and 10th overall on Tuesday. Brandeis was second while Johnson and Madison claimed the other two playoff berths. Madison and LEE finished tied but Madison prevailed on a head-to-head tiebreaker.
District 28-6A
Who’s in: Warren (13-1-2, 41), Harlan (12-3-1, 37), Brennan (10-3-3, 33), O’Connor (9-4-3, 30)
Overview: Warren is the district champion — its first title since sharing the top prize with Marshall in 2020 — while Harlan, Brennan and O’Connor landed the other postseason spots.
District 29-6A
Who’s in: Steele (7-1-3, 24), Buda Johnson (6-2-3, 21), Clemens (6-2-3, 21), San Marcos (5-4-2, 17)
Overview: Steele can collect the league crown with a win or tie in its finale at Buda Johnson on Friday. A Steele loss would open the door for Buda Johnson and Clemens to possibly nab a share of the district title. San Marcos is the fourth-place team.
District 30-6A
Who’s in: Del Rio (9-3, 31), Eagle Pass (9-3, 26), Laredo United (7-5, 19), Laredo Alexander (6-6, 18)
Overview: Del Rio is the district winner and Eagle Pass is second. Laredo United finished third and Laredo Alexander was fourth.
District 26-5A
Who’s in: Pieper (16-0, 48), Boerne (11-3-1, 34)
On the cusp: Alamo Heights (8-6-2, 26), New Braunfels (8-5-2, 26), Smithson Valley (7-5-3, 24)
Overview: Pieper went unblemished in winning the league crown and Boerne, in its first season after moving up from Class 4A, is second. New Braunfels, Smithson Valley and Alamo Heights are among a logjam of teams still in the running for one of the final two playoff berths. New Braunfels faces Boerne and Smithson Valley takes on Veterans Memorial on Friday.
District 27-5A
Who’s in: Lanier (12-0-4, 40), Edison (12-3-1, 37), Burbank (11-2-3, 36), Jefferson (8-5-3, 27)
Overview: Lanier went unbeaten in grabbing the league title, its second in the past four seasons. Edison is second, Burbank is third and Jefferson captured fourth.
District 28-5A
Who’s in: Southwest (15-1, 46), MacArthur (11-5, 31), Southwest Legacy (11-5, 30), Harlandale (9-7, 28)
Overview: Southwest secured a seventh-straight district championship. MacArthur was second, Southwest Legacy was third and Harlandale claimed the final spot, edging out Jay by a point.
District 26-4A
Who’s in: Davenport (7-1-1, 22), Marble Falls (6-1-2, 20), Fredericksburg (6-2-1, 19), Bandera (3-5-1, 10)
Overview: Davenport can lock up the league title outright with a win in Friday’s district finale vs. Canyon Lake and can notch no worse than a share of the title with a draw. Marble Falls, Fredericksburg and Bandera have cemented the other three postseason berths.
District 27-4A
Who’s in: La Vernia (13-1, 39), Cole (10-4, 30), Memorial (9-4-1, 28), Gonzales (8-4-2, 26)
Overview: La Vernia is the district winner, Cole — in its first varsity season — is second, Memorial is third and Gonzales is fourth.
District 28-4A
Who’s in: Floresville (11-0, 33), Uvalde (9-2, 27), Somerset (8-3, 24), Pleasanton (5-5-1, 16)
Overview: Floresville has secured the district crown and can go undefeated in league play when it travels to Uvalde, which has clinched a playoff berth along with Somerset and Pleasanton.
Girls
District 27-6A
Who’s in: Johnson (10-2-2, 32), Reagan (9-3-2, 29), LEE (9-3-2, 29), Brandeis (7-3-4, 25)
Overview: Johnson topped Clark 2-0 on Tuesday to secure its third straight district championship. Brandeis is playoff-bound for the first time since 2019 (would have made it in 2020 but the season was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic) thanks to Clark’s loss. Reagan and LEE finished tied for second place.
District 28-6A
Who’s in: Taft (15-1, 45), Warren (13-2-1, 40), O’Connor (11-2-3, 36), Sotomayor (8-5-3, 27)
Overview: Taft won the league title for the third straight season, joining Clark (1988-90, 1994-96) and Brandeis (2011-13, 2015-18) as the only Northside ISD’s girls teams to accomplish a three-peat. Warren was second, O’Connor was third and Sotomayor took fourth to earn its first playoff berth in only its third season.
District 29-6A
Who’s in: Steele (8-1-2, 26), Buda Johnson (8-2-1, 25), New Braunfels Canyon (7-1-3, 24), San Marcos (6-4-1, 19)
Overview: Steele can secure an outright district title with a win vs. Buda Johnson on Friday and can lock up at least a share of the title with a draw. Buda Johnson would be the district winner with a victory and New Braunfels Canyon can forge a tie for first with a win vs. San Marcos and if the Steele-Buda Johnson match ends in a draw. San Marcos has secured the final playoff spot.
District 30-6A
Who’s in: Medina Valley (11-1, 35), Laredo United (10-1, 29), Laredo Alexander (7-4, 21), Del Rio (6-6, 19)
Overview: Medina Valley captured the district crown in its first season in Class 6A, its lone blemish being a loss in a penalty-kick shootout. Laredo United, Laredo Alexander and Del Rio locked up the other three playoff berths.
District 26-5A
Who’s in: Pieper (13-2-1, 40), Smithson Valley (12-0-3, 39), Boerne (9-5-1, 28),
On the cusp: Alamo Heights (9-7, 27), New Braunfels (8-5-2, 26)
Overview: The district championship and final playoff berth will be decided on Friday. Smithson Valley can claim the top prize outright with a win vs. Veterans Memorial and grab a share of the crown with a draw. A loss by Smithson Valley and Pieper will snare its second straight title. New Braunfels needs a win or a tie vs. Boerne to clinch the last playoff spot. Alamo Heights currently holds the slot by one point over New Braunfels.
District 27-5A
Who’s in: Jefferson (14-1-1, 43), Highlands (13-3, 39), Seguin (12-3-1, 37), Edison (11-4, 33)
Overview: Jefferson is the league champion. Highlands is second, Seguin is third and Edison is fourth. Seguin, in its first season under Coach Ray Gutierrez, qualified for the postseason for the first time in program history.
District 28-5A
Who’s in: Jay (15-1, 44), Southwest (14-2, 41), McCollum (11-5, 34), MacArthur (10-6, 30)
Overview: Jay made history, securing its first district title in the 43 years that the UIL has sponsored the sport. The Mustangs had already claimed their third playoff berth during the same span. Southwest was second, McCollum was third and MacArthur was fourth.
District 26-4A
Who’s in: Wimberley (7-0-2, 23), Davenport (7-2, 21), Canyon Lake (5-1-3, 18), Fredericksburg (3-5-1, 10)
Overview: Wimberley is the frontrunner to secure the league title, needing a victory to claim it outright and a tie to notch a share of the crown. A loss to fourth-place Fredericksburg by Wimberley would open the door for Davenport to take the top spot with a win vs. Canyon Lake.
District 27-4A
Who’s in: La Vernia (14-0, 42), Gonzales (11-2, 33), Luling (7-5-2, 23), Cole (5-5-4, 19)
Overview: La Vernia is one win from claiming an undefeated district title, Gonzales is second and Luling is third. Cole is headed to the postseason in its first varsity season.
District 28-4A
Who’s in: Uvalde (10-1, 30), Pleasanton (9-1-1, 28), Floresville (8-2-1, 25), Somerset (5-6, 15)
Overview: Uvalde can capture the district title outright with a win vs. Floresville on Friday and would assure itself of at least a share of the crown with a draw. Pleasanton would win the district with a victory vs. Somerset and a loss by Uvalde. Floresville and Somerset have locked up the other playoff bids.
