From the hardwood to the gridiron and beyond, taking a look back and ahead at the San Antonio-area high school sports landscape:

The year that Kerrville Tivy last failed to qualify for the UIL football playoffs before having its streak snapped this season. The Antlers finished in a three-way tie with Floresville and Medina Valley for third place in District 15-5A II, but missed out on advancing to the postseason because of tiebreaker.
Twenty-four years ago, Kerrville Tivy missed the playoffs in coach Donnie Laurence’s final season, but made it every year after for nearly a quarter-century under the guidance of coaches Neal Lahue, Mark Smith and David Jones, who is in his ninth season at the helm.

450: Career wins for Clark boys basketball coach Steve Sylestine, who reached the milestone during the Cougars’ 67-55 victory vs. Clemens on Nov. 28. Sylestine is in his 12th year at Clark and 26th overall and previously had head-coaching stints at Killeen Ellison, Marshall, Jay and Stevens.

250: Wins for Central Catholic basketball coach Bruce McConaghy, who accomplished the feat during the Buttons’ 84-77 decision vs. Austin St. Michael’s on Nov. 28. McConaghy is in his seventh year at Central Catholic and 12th overall. He also was head coach at Clemens.
