200: Career wins for Smithson Valley boys soccer coach Heather Boss-Durante, who reached the milestone during the Rangers’ 4-0 decision vs. Seguin on Feb. 2. 4: Days until the start of the UIL softball season. Teams across the state can compete in their first official game on Feb. 13. Notebook
In memoriam:
New Braunfels High School graduate Lilly Kimbell, perhaps the most decorated player in Texas high school tennis history, died on Sunday. She was 31.

Kimbell won four straight UIL singles state championships (2007-2010), in two different classifications (6A and 5A), and also helped the Unicorns claim three team tennis state crowns (2007-2009) and a 120-3 overall record, including a remarkable 75-match winning streak.

A five-star recruit, she was a standout performer at the University of Georgia. Kimbell racked up 197 total wins — 109 in doubles, 88 in singles — and helped the Bulldogs advance to the NCAA tournament in each of her four seasons.

After concluding her playing career, Kimbell served as an assistant coach at Eastern Illinois and St. Mary’s University in San Antonio.
