By the numbers
2,000: Career points for Boerne senior guard Jamie Ruede, who reached the milestone during the Greyhounds’ 79-21 win vs. Canyon Lake on Tuesday. She is the second area girls player this season to reach the plateau, joining Reagan’s Samantha Wagner, who did so in November.
1,000: Career points for Lytle senior guard Cadee Martinez, Wagner sophomore guard LA Sneed and South San senior forward Raven Gonzales. Martinez accomplished the feat during the Pirates’ 60-51 win vs. Cotulla on Tuesday. Sneed hit the milestone during the Thunderbirds’ 47-35 decision vs. Kerrville Tivy on Jan. 6, and Gonzales reached the plateau during a 65-59 triumph vs. Harlandale on Jan. 3.
1,000: Career rebounds for Boerne junior center Averi Aaron, who reached the mark during the Greyhounds’ 79-21 victory s. Canyon Lake on Tuesday.
500: Total wins for Boerne boys basketball coach Kimble McHone, who captured the milestone during the Greyhounds’ 54-29 victory vs. Canyon Lake on Tuesday. McHone is in his 14th season as head coach at Boerne and has led the team to the UIL Class 4A state tournament each of the past two seasons. He previously was head coach at Uvalde and Snook.
100: Career goals for Jefferson senior Arianna Solis, who reached the total with four goals during the Mustangs’ 5-1 triumph vs. South San at the Harlandale ISD tournament on Jan. 6. Solis is the second Jefferson girls player to garner the 100-goal milestone, joining Yvonne Herrera, and the 44th girls player in area history with the distinction. Solis is the second player this season to notch the achievement. San Antonio Christian’s Kaylee Tarver, a senior committed to Mary Hardin-Baylor, did so with five goals during the Lions’ win vs. San Marcos Academy on Nov. 17.
7: Days until the UIL permits high school baseball teams across Texas to conduct their first after-school practice. The season begins Feb. 20 and concludes June 7-10 with the state tournament at the University of Texas’ Disch-Falk Field in Austin and Dell Diamond in Round Rock. D’Hanis is the defending Class 1A state champion and Reagan was the 6A state finalist.
Softball’s first day to have after-school workout is Jan. 13. The season kicks off on Feb. 13 and ends May 30-June 3 at McCombs Field in Austin. O’Connor is the defending 6A state champion and D’Hanis is the reigning 1A winner.
