Garcia, a Harlandale graduate who has been at O’Connor since the school opened in 1998, is the fifth area coach to record 800 wins, joining Cornerstone’s Mike Carter, Poth’s Patti Zenner, Jo Anne Hultgren and Robin Gerlich. Garcia guided the Panthers to the UIL Class 6A state tournament in 2017 and 2018 and the regional tournament in each of the past two seasons.

King, a Floresville High School graduate, is in his 15th season as a head coach, including his eighth at Stockdale (2004-2007, 2019-present). He previously coached at Poth.
7: Rushing touchdowns for Davenport senior running back Shastin Golden during the Wolves’ 62-42 win vs. Lockhart on Sept. 15. The total is the third-most in area history, trailing only the nine TDs scored by Madison’s Aaron Green (vs. Kerrville Tivy in 2008) and Devine’s Stephen Carrillo (vs. Poteet in 2007) and the eight by Roosevelt’s Bryson Carroll (vs. Lee in 2015), Devine’s Jordan Fraga (vs. Carrizo Springs in 2012) and Clark’s Jerrell Wilkerson (vs. Holmes in 2004).
