From the hardwood to the gridiron and beyond, taking a look back and ahead at the San Antonio-area high school sports landscape:
By the numbers
1,000: Career digs for O’Connor junior libero Carly Chavez, who reached the milestone during the Panthers’ 25-18, 25-11 win vs. Clark in the championship match of the Bronze Bracket at the 45th annual Fraulein Volleyfest in New Braunfels on Aug. 20.
200: Career wins for Highlands volleyball coach Desiree Lara, who accomplished the feat during the Owls’ 25-19, 25-23 decision vs. Southwest Legacy at the San Antonio ISD tournament on Aug. 19. Lara is in her eighth season at Highlands and previously coached at Floresville.
