1,000: Career assists for New Braunfels senior setter Ella Brunson and Incarnate Word junior setter Isabella Gomez. Brunson accomplished the feat during the Unicorns’ District 27-6A volleyball match vs. Clemens on Nov. 6. Gomez reached the mark during the Shamrocks’ sweep of Austin St. Dominic Savio on Oct. 27.

Harborth is in his 23rd season at Navarro and guided the Panthers to the UIL Class 3A state tournament during the 2013-14 season.

9: Area athletes recognized on either a national or regional level by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Reagan’s Nyah Anderson and Maddie Correa and Clark’s Elise McGhee received honorable mention on the organization’s Under Armour All-America team. Anderson signed with the University of Miami and McGhee is headed to Baylor.

Anderson, McGhee and Correa joined Cornerstone’s Lauren Briseno, Churchill’s Alyssa Ortega, New Braunfels Christian’s Camdyn Doucet and Hailey Hamlett, and New Braunfels’ Rian Millership and Ella Brunson on the AVCA All-Region 4 squad. The regional team is comprised of players from Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Mississippi.
