From the hardwood to the gridiron and beyond, taking a look back and ahead at the San Antonio-area high school sports landscape:

By the numbers
1,000:
Career points for Jefferson senior Joseph Rincon, who accomplished the feat during the Mustangs’ 63-41 win vs. Edison on Jan. 14.

300: Total wins for Boerne girls basketball coach Amy Ruede. She reached the milestone during the Greyhounds’ 75-14 triumph vs. Canyon Lake on Jan. 14. Ruede is in her 13th season at Boerne and led the Greyhounds to the UIL Class 4A state semifinals a year ago and the regional final in 2015-16, 2013-14 and 2012-13.

300: Career wins for La Vernia boys basketball coach John Ince. He reached the mark with the Bears’ 49-40 victory vs. Gonzales on Jan. 14. Ince previously coached at Clemens, Brandeis, Randolph and Fort Worth Southwest.

150: Wins for Clark girls soccer coach Diana Driggers. She reached the standard during the Cougars’ 4-0 decision vs. Marshall at the San Antonio ISD tournament on Jan. 14. Driggers is in her 12th season with the Cougars.

2: Area girls teams in Prep Soccer’s Fab 50 national rankings. Reagan (7-1) is No. 17 and Boerne Champion (4-0-2) is No. 42. Champion, which moved up six spots from a week ago, has defeated Southlake Carroll and tied Flower Mound and Plano West, all either nationally ranked or longtime national power. Reagan fell one spot from last week after a shootout loss to Southlake Carroll. The Rattlers rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the final 11 1/2 minutes of regulation to tie the contest at 2-2 and force penalty kicks, with Carroll prevailing 10-9.
