1,000: Career kills for New Braunfels Canyon senior outside hitter Kyla Malone, who reached the standard during the Cougarettes’ three-set win Tuesday vs. Dripping Springs. Malone is committed to Incarnate Word.
1,000: Career digs for Smithson Valley senior libero Jaci Mesa and New Braunfels Canyon senior libero Victoria Fontenot. Mesa, who is committed to Troy University (Ala.), and Fontenot, who played at Holy Cross during her freshman season before transferring, both amassed the mark on Aug. 26.
1,000: Assists for Steele setter Holly Miller and New Braunfels Canyon setter Megan Hawkins. Miller, a junior, accomplished the feat during a three-set victory vs. Weatherford at the Volleypalooza in Leander on Aug. 26. Hawkins, a sophomore, reached the mark vs. Houston Clear Springs on Aug. 28, also at the Volleypalooza.
400: Career wins for Clemens volleyball coach Robyn Wunderlich, who reached the milestone during the Buffaloes’ three-set victory Saturday vs. Hutto at the Texas Showdown at Smithson Valley. Wunderlich guided Clemens to UIL Class 6A state tournament in 2019 and previously coached at East Central.
17: Area athletes named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Phenom watch list, which recognizes underclassmen who have received accolades for their play. The Phenom College Prep program will be Dec. 16-18 in Columbus, Ohio. Making the list are Alamo Heights’ Grace Carroll and Hannah Whittingstall, Antonian’s Anna Arceneaux, Kalina Calvillo and Bella Rodriguez, Boerne’s Madisyn Jones, New Braunfels Canyon’s Maya Jones and Courtney Pope, Cornerstone’s Taylor Anderson, Alyssa Manitzas and Nayeli Gonzalez, D’Hanis’ Jolie Frosch and Mabry Herrmann, Brandeis’ Emma Halstead and Austin Smoak, Pleasanton’s Sadie McAda and Smithson Valley’s Lillie Johnson.
10: Area athletes named to the AVCA’s All-America watch list, which honors top rising seniors who received recognition for their play. The organization’s All-America team will be announced on Nov. 9. Making the list are Antonian’s Olivia Arredondo and Mackenize Tijerina, New Braunfels Canyon’s Kyla Malone, Clark’s Kendall Harrington, Brandeis’ Jalyn Gibson and Carlee Pharris, Madison’s Rylee Davis and Dallasstar Johnson, Navarro’s Elizabeth Williams and Kerrville Tivy’s Ally Scheidle.
