From the hardwood to the gridiron and beyond, taking a look back and ahead at the San Antonio-area high school sports landscape:

By the numbers
1,500:
Career digs for O’Connor senior libero Bryshanna Brown. Brown, who is committed to the University of Houston, reached the milestone with 23 digs in a non-district volleyball victory vs. Brandeis on Oct. 10.

500: Wins for Churchill volleyball coach Jo Anne Hultgren during her 16 seasons at the school, which includes UIL Class 6A state tournament appearances in 2013 and 2014. She reached the mark during the Chargers’ triumph vs. Roosevelt on Oct. 9.
The milestone came a week after Hultgren earned her 800th career win in a victory vs. Marshall, her alma mater. She had 301 wins in 15 seasons at Judson and led the Rockets to the regional final in 1997.

400: Career wins for Smithson Valley volleyball Courtney Patton, who reached the standard during the Rangers’ four-set decision vs. East Central. Patton is in her fourth season with the Rangers and previously coached for 11 seasons at Alamo Heights, leading the Mules to regional-tournament berths in 2010, 2014 and 2016.

94: Points scored by Navarro in last week’s football victory vs. Austin Eastside Memorial. It is believed to be the most ever scored in a game by an area team, surpassing the 83 Roosevelt scored vs. LEE in 2015.
Navarro quarterback Nick Billings threw for five touchdowns and kicker Sebastian Sneed made a 47-yard field goal and 13 PATs. The Panthers’ offensive outburst came a week after they blanked Manor New Tech 81-0.
The Panthers have outscored their last two opponents by a combined 175-0.

19: Consecutive district volleyball matches won by Antonian before falling to S.A. Christian in four sets of a TAPPS 3-6A contest on Thursday. The Apaches suffered their first league setback since a loss to Incarnate Word on Sept. 22, 2016.
