Date changes: The UIL Class 6A and 5A girls state swimming and diving championships, originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday at North East ISD’s Davis Natatorium and Walker Pool, has been postponed to March 1-2 because of expected power outages and water shortages in San Antonio .
The 6A competition is on March 1 and 5A is on March 2. Swimming prelims begin at 10 a.m. on each day, with diving at 2 p.m. and swimming finals at 5 p.m. The boys state meet is still scheduled for Feb. 26-27.
The UIL also announced that the girls basketball state finals will be played March 10-11 and the boys finales will be March 12-13 at the Alamodome. The moves are a result of games being interrupted by statewide severe weather.
