From the hardwood to the gridiron and beyond, taking a look back and ahead at the San Antonio-area high school sports landscape:

By the numbers
800:
Career wins for Blanco baseball coach Bryan Wyatt, who reached the milestone during the Panthers’ 12-2 win vs. Llano on March 29. Wyatt, a Jay graduate, is in his 41st season at Blanco and led teams to the UIL state tournament in 1988, 2007 and 2019. He also coached for two seasons at Maud, located near Texarkana.

400: Wins for Seguin softball coach John Garcia during his 21 seasons at the school. He reached the mark during the Matadors’ 16-4 victory vs. Highlands on March 21. Garcia is in his 23rd season as a head coach and previously coached at Floresville.

100: Career wins for Boerne girls soccer coach Jeremy Shannon, who reached the milestone during his team’s 4-0 triumph vs. Veterans Memorial on Feb. 21. Shannon just completed his fifth season with the Greyhounds. He led them to the UIL Class 4A state tournament three times (2022, 2023, 2024), the regional semifinals once (2021) and the playoffs in all five of his seasons. Boerne advanced to the postseason this season in its first year competing in Class 5A.

50: Career home runs for Davenport senior outfielder Kinley Keller. A Mississippi State signee, Keller reached the milestone during the Wolves’ 16-0 win vs. Bandera on March 28.

50: Goals scored this season by Davenport senior Rylee Reisdorph. She accomplished the feat with four goals during an 8-0 triumph vs. Brownsville IDEA Riverview in the Class 4A regional semifinals on March 28. Reisdorph, a Central Arkansas signee, is believed to be only the 23rd player in San Antonio-area girls history to reach the milestone. In March, she became the seventh player in San Antonio-area girls soccer history with 150 career goals.
