From the hardwood to the gridiron and beyond, taking a look back and ahead at the San Antonio-area high school sports landscape:
By the numbers
2,000: Career points for Brandeis senior Rian Forestier, who accomplished the feat as the Broncos finished 4-1 at the Buda Hays Hawk Classic on Nov. 30-Dec. 2. Forestier, who signed with Southern California, earlier this season recorded her 1,000th rebound and also has nearly 500 steals, 500 assists and 300 blocks.
1,500: Career points for Harlandale senior Cascia Sandoval, who reached the milestone during the La Vernia tournament on Dec. 7. Sandoval, who is committed to Manhattanville College (N.Y.), is the second Harlandale player to record a points milestone this season. Teammate Marissa Ortiz tallied her 1,000th career points during a 51-45 win vs. Burbank on Nov. 14.
1,000: Total points for Brandeis junior guard Mia Ramos, who attained the mark during the Broncos’ 67-43 win vs. LEE on Dec. 16. Earlier this season, Ramos was named all-tournament after scoring 30 points and helping the Broncos defeat Judson 56-48 in the final of the McDonald’s Texas Invitational in Pasadena.

Talan Dodson, a senior outside hitter who signed with Sam Houston State, was the 4A offensive player of the year after recording 583 kills, including 29 in helping the Wolves capture the UIL state championship with a five-set triumph vs. Canyon Randall.
