From the hardwood to the gridiron and beyond, taking a look back and ahead at the San Antonio-area high school sports landscape:

Career points and rebounds for Jefferson basketball player Eliana Rocha. A senior, Rocha accomplished both milestones during the Mustangs’ 62-42 District 27-5A win vs. Brackenridge on Dec. 11.

400: Career victories for Southwest Legacy girls basketball coach Greg McWilliams. He reached the mark during the Titans’ 54-44 win vs. Southside on Tuesday. McWilliams previously had head-coaching stints at Floresville, San Angelo Central, Lubbock Estacado and Jefferson.

28: Area volleyball players named all-state by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. Brandeis’ Jalyn Gibson and Carlee Pharris, Clemens’ Canada Buchanan, Madison’s Shavonne Respondek, O’Connor’s Bryshanna Brown, Reagan’s Nyah Anderson and Maddie Correa and Smithson Valley’s Jaci Mesa made the Class 6A team.
Alamo Heights’ Hannah Whittingstall and Kylie Wickley and New Braunfels Canyon’s Addison Evans and Erin Jones earned spot on the 5A squad. Boerne’s Madisyn Jones, Devine’s Madison Pike and Megan Runyan, La Vernia’s Emily Reinhard and Madelynn Wallace and Navarro’s Elizabeth Williams were on the 4A team.
Ingram’s Karlie Bonam, Anna Crittenden and Makenna Gelsone and Poth’s Sydney Kroll and Khloe Naegelin are on the 3A team; Johnson City’s McKenna Cowsert and Ivy Swafford made the 2A squad and D’Hanis’ Victoria Carter, Mabry Herrmann and Jolie Frosch were tabbed for the 1A team.

6: Area athletes selected to play in the TGCA All-Star volleyball matches next July in Arlington. Naegelin is on the Blue team for the 4A-1A contest, Madison’s Rylee Davis, Pharris, Gibson and Wickley are on the Blue team for the 6A-5A competition, while New Braunfels Canyon’s Kyla Malone earned a spot on the Red team for the 6A-5A matchup. All are juniors.
Poth’s Shianne Thomas, Pike and Runyan made the TGCA Legacy squad for 4A-1A, while Brandeis’ Amy DeWalt, Anderson, Brown, Jones and Respondek earned the same honor for 6A-5A.
