Marquee game
Madison vs. Reagan, 7 p.m. Friday at Heroes Stadium: The schools that have dominated District 28-6A over the past decade meet with an opportunity for one to bolster its chances of adding another crown.
Reagan has won six league titles (2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2020) and Madison has claimed three (2012, 2018, 2019) in the previous 10 seasons. Only Johnson in 2017 has interrupted the streak.
The Rattlers (2-2 overall, 2-0 in district) have apparently found their footing after opening the season with losses to state-ranked Brennan and Steele, rolling past Clark and LEE by a 76-10 margin. Madison (3-1, 2-0) has won two in a row since a Week 2 setback vs. Smithson Valley.
Both teams have been stout on defense, with Madison allowing 13.8 points per game and Reagan conceded 14.8.

Tale of the tape
Roosevelt running back Brennan Carroll vs. Brandeis’ defense: A junior, Carroll has rushed for a combined 371 yards and four touchdowns over the past two weeks for the Rough Riders (3-2 overall, 2-1 in District 28-6A), including a 230-yard performance two weeks ago vs. LEE. He’s averaged 14.3 yards per attempt during the span as Roosevelt has won two in a row. Brandeis’ rushing defense is yielding 73.6 yards an outing, and its effectiveness could be integral as the Broncos look to bounce back from their first setback of the season, a 28-22 decision vs. Johnson.
